Cleaning Concrete Tips : Concrete cleaner products and advice

A few helpful tips for cleaning concrete stains off your surfaces.

There are two types of concrete stains: Natural ones like general dirt and grime and moss, and stains we cause like oil drips and paint spillages.

For natural stains it is worth trying a green product. These don't have the strong acid content of other products. They eat away at dirt and moss without causing harm to the environment. You can apply some liquid at watch it fizz away as it naturally breaks down marks on your concrete.

Man made stains like oil and paint may require something stronger like brick acid or specialist concrete cleaning products. If unsure if a product is suitable for your surface try a small amount first as a test. Many products need to be diluted with water so don't forget to do that or the acid may wear away your concrete's face.

An alternative to a concrete cleaner is using a pressure washer to blast dirt away. Then applying a concrete sealer to lock dirt and stains out. This is a wise choice as it will be less work, but sealants can change the look of concrete by making it darker and using a pressure washer often can take the face off concrete pavers or the color off pattern imprinted concrete.
